Mission

  1. Lams is a media sales house for the community media of South Africa to advance the ideals of a participatory democracy for historically disadvantaged communities. We pride ourselves on representing the community media sector in the main stream in the areas of marketing, digital advertising, audience measurement, corporate governance and Compliance. We are serious about the transformation of the Media Sector and consolidating government support for the advancement of the sector. We prioritize technology and digital innovation in the advent of the 4IR including content generation and professionalizing the sector through skills and capacity building.

  2. Audience Measurement
    • Explore solutions to challenges that have been experienced by community media in relation to audience measurements.
    • Provide the community media with information relating to the readership patterns of customers, and as a result informs decisions on scheduling advertising rates and content.
    • Provide advertisers with information that allows them to understand readership patterns of the community media in order to make informed decisions in placing advertising in order to reach correct target audience at the lowest cost.
    • Provide consumption trends to the MDDA to provide a picture of how community media beneficiaries are faring as compared to their mainstream media counterparts.
    • This data will also enable the MDDA to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the community media sector.

    • The LAMS introduces sustainable solutions to address teething governance and compliance challenges faced by community media.
    • This is done through forward looking policy, legislation and regulations.
    • Ensures a sustainable community media sector in a digitized environment.

    • Addressing ownership, representation and content generation
    • Championing transformation programs to the benefit of the community media sector
    • Participate in the media transformation programs in a post democratic era

    • The LAMS accelerates the rapid advances in technology for financial sustainability of community media and inadvertently, to democracy and nation building
    • The LAMS explores challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid rise of digital media in order to offer much informed support to the community media sector
  7. Content Generation and Professionalizing the sector through skills and capacity building
    • Implement skills interventions around marketing and content generatio
    • Serve as skills Development Provider for the community media sector
    • Implementation of workplace skills with SETA requirements for our publications
    • Submit the Work skills plan to SET
    • Advise the community media on SETA implementation
    • Assist the community media with Annual Training Report
    • Advise community media employers on SETA requirements
    • Act as contact person between SETA and employers
    • Be the go to organization with regards to skills development queries
    • Communicate with employer regarding grants and benefits to the community media employers
